Michael Wegener Implement (MWI) began in 1994 after Michael took over the sale/auction yard from his father Mylen who started the operation in 1956. Occupying almost half of the small town of Cornlea, Nebraska, the implement continues to be a family affair; Michael his wife Lori (aka Boss Lady) and their son Nick continue to work hard each day connecting the small town farmers with big town opportunities buying and selling their equipment.
MWI specializes in buying, selling and trading new and used equipment, specifically agricultural and construction, year around. The implement is also known for drawing huge crowds into the sleepy town of Cornlea twice a year for their February and August Live Consignment Auctions. In 2010 MWI added an online division known as Cornlea Iron auctions which holds monthly online consignment auctions.
Michael Wegener took over the sale yard operation from his father Mylen in 1994. Michael started his career in used machinery as a buyer, running the road and going to auctions. Over the years Michael has built lasting relationships in the used machinery world that allow him to locate the equipment his customers need, and help them sell what they don’t.
Lori Wegener (AKA Boss Lady) has been working alongside husband Michael since the beginning. She handles the behind the scenes operations, from billing, and accounts payable to auction details. Lori is better known as the Boss Lady, for her infamous radio ads that have aired over the years.
Nick Frauendorfer , son of Michael and Lori, grew up in the business, his first exposure to the machinery business came from riding along to farm sales with Michael as a youngster and has evolved into Nick now working side by side with his dad and sometimes even running the show in Michael absence. Nick also farms, which contributes to his appreciation of quality equipment.
